OpenAI unveiled Frontier, an enterprise platform for building AI agents that plug into companies’ existing software and data, marking the firm’s latest push into the corporate market. Early adopters include HP, Intuit, Oracle, State Farm, Thermo Fisher and Uber, with BBVA, Cisco and T-Mobile piloting the system. The debut intensified a selloff in software shares amid concern that rapidly improving agents could displace traditional applications; Salesforce fell more than 3% and Thomson Reuters slid 4.6%, while Intuit and SAP gave back early gains. The move follows rival Anthropic’s agent-focused Cowork plugins, heightening competitive pressures. Nvidia’s Jensen Huang downplayed the threat to incumbents, arguing businesses won’t abandon familiar tools, underscoring uncertainty over how quickly agents will reshape enterprise software.
