San José Mineta International Airport is piloting a humanoid robot, “José,” developed by Silicon Valley startup IntBot, to help travelers navigate Terminal B. The AI-driven machine uses a proprietary system that fuses vision, audio and language to converse in more than 50 languages, provide directions and deliver real-time terminal updates. City officials say the four-month trial aims to ease congestion and improve service as airports prepare for heavier international traffic. The test will measure usage, reliability and impact on passenger flow, while raising familiar questions about privacy, data handling and traveler comfort with robotic helpers. If successful, the deployment could foreshadow broader adoption of socially aware service robots across airports, hospitals and hotels.
