Google has enhanced its ad safety measures by making over 50 improvements to its AI-powered large language models in 2024, according to its latest Ads Safety Report. These upgrades have allowed Google to detect and block policy-violating and fraudulent ads more rapidly, including scams involving AI-generated impersonation of public figures. As a result of new policies and advanced detection techniques, Google suspended over 700,000 scam advertiser accounts and saw a 90% reduction in such scam reports. Overall, the company removed 5.1 billion ads, restricted 9.1 billion ads, and suspended 39.2 million advertiser accounts in 2024, reflecting an ongoing commitment to ad safety, transparency, and industry compliance.
