Meta Platforms Inc. plans to invest hundreds of billions of dollars into artificial intelligence infrastructure as CEO Mark Zuckerberg aims to bring the company’s first AI supercluster, Prometheus, online by 2026. The supercluster will support advanced AI development and research, with additional multi-gigawatt clusters in the pipeline—part of Zuckerberg’s strategy to build the most talent-dense AI team in the business and close the gap with industry competitors like OpenAI and Google. These investments follow recent acquisitions, including $14 billion in Scale AI, and the formation of Meta Superintelligence Labs to accelerate AI innovation. The initiative marks a pivotal expansion of Meta’s data capabilities as it seeks leadership in the AI arms race.
