Intel said Chief Executive Lip-Bu Tan will directly oversee the company’s artificial-intelligence and advanced-technologies units after CTO and chief AI officer Sachin Katti departed to join OpenAI. Katti will design and build compute infrastructure at the AI lab, OpenAI’s Greg Brockman said. The move comes as Tan seeks to steady Intel amid executive turnover and persistent headwinds in its foundry ambitions and AI data-center silicon, where Nvidia—fabbed by TSMC—holds a commanding lead. Intel reiterated AI remains a top strategic priority and said it is pressing ahead with its product roadmap. Intel shares closed down 1.5% at $37.88 and ticked higher in premarket trading.
