JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon said artificial intelligence will eliminate some positions even if it doesn’t trigger immediate, large-scale layoffs, adding that workers who strengthen “soft skills” such as emotional intelligence, communication and writing will remain in demand. Speaking on Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures, Dimon urged companies and government to help displaced employees with retraining, relocation and income support to ease the transition. Employers have cited AI in more than 70,000 job-cut announcements since 2023 as they automate routine tasks and restructure teams. Other executives are striking a similar note: Microsoft’s Satya Nadella recently underscored the growing value of empathy as AI handles more analytical work, while former IBM CEO Ginni Rometty said collaboration and judgment will command a premium as generative AI spreads. Dimon said the next job could be “a better job”—for those who adapt.
