The Forest of Dean District Council is trialling artificial intelligence to help determine the best locations for building an additional 5,400 homes by 2041, following increased government housing targets. The council, already planning for 6,600 homes, must now deliver a total of 12,000 in response to new regulations. An AI company has been commissioned to analyze public feedback on housing plans, and results will be compared with council assessments before further decisions on AI adoption are made. Councillors have agreed to review the district’s local plan and examine alternative strategies for meeting the new housing requirements.
