A Pew Research Center survey finds that Americans are generally pessimistic about the long-term effects of artificial intelligence on news and journalism. Half of U.S. adults believe AI will negatively impact the news received, while only 10% see a positive outcome. Most Americans also think AI will result in fewer jobs for journalists in the next two decades. Concerns about misinformation generated by AI are widespread, with over 66% expressing strong worries. Perspectives are consistent across political parties and more negative among those with higher education. AI experts surveyed share similar fears about job losses and declining news quality.
