A nationwide poll by NBC News and SurveyMonkey reveals that Americans are almost evenly divided about artificial intelligence’s impact on everyday life and in schools, with 44% believing AI will improve life and 42% fearing it will worsen it. The polarization remains consistent across age groups and political affiliations, indicating no significant partisan split. About half of respondents use AI tools like ChatGPT, Google Gemini, or Microsoft Copilot at least sometimes. The poll also identifies a near-equal divide over the use of AI in schools: 53% believe integrating AI prepares students for the future, while 47% think banning it does. The findings come amid minimal federal AI regulation and ongoing debates among educators regarding classroom technology and academic integrity.
