Campus, an online college startup backed by Sam Altman and Shaquille O’Neal, named former Meta AI vice president Jerome Pesenti as chief technology officer and acquired his AI-learning platform, Sizzle AI, for an undisclosed sum. Founder Tade Oyerinde said the deal accelerates Campus’s engineering roadmap by two to three years and will integrate Sizzle’s personalized, AI-generated study content used by 1.7 million people. Campus offers accredited associate degrees taught by adjunct faculty from elite universities, has more than 3,000 enrolled students, charges $7,320 per academic year and accepts Pell Grants. The company has raised more than $100 million from backers including Founders Fund, General Catalyst, Palantir co-founder Joe Lonsdale and Figma CEO Dylan Field, and provides students with a laptop, mobile Wi-Fi, coaching and 24/7 tutoring.
