Deezer, a Paris-based music streaming service, is implementing on-screen labels to flag albums containing AI-generated songs. This initiative aims to tackle the growing problem of streaming fraud, where artificial intelligence tools are used to create and upload thousands of songs to earn royalties, often using bots and streaming farms. Deezer’s new system detects and marks AI music, seeks to prevent royalty payments for manipulated streams, and underlines broader industry concerns about generative AI, copyright, and the impact of non-human music creation. The move comes amid rising legal challenges against AI music generators and as the share of AI-created songs on Deezer’s platform has sharply increased.
