Jersey could unlock productivity gains from artificial intelligence with targeted investment in funding and skills, an economist told Digital Jersey’s annual review. James Linder said the island must pair AI adoption with workforce development and innovation support to capture benefits while managing employment risks in a tight labor market. Digital Jersey CEO Tony Moretta called AI “absolutely fundamental” to the island’s prospects, urging greater spending on digital technologies and training. Government minister Kirsten Morel said Jersey will continue investing and work through a newly formed AI Council to ensure safe, broad-based adoption across public and private sectors.
