FBI Director Kash Patel said the bureau is accelerating the use of artificial intelligence to help investigators and analysts address threats domestically and overseas. In a post on X, Patel called AI a key part of a broader technology push and said a leadership working group, led by outgoing Deputy Director Dan Bongino, is steering the effort. The bureau already applies AI to tasks such as vehicle recognition, voice-language identification, speech-to-text and video analytics. An FBI spokesperson declined to elaborate beyond Patel’s remarks. Bongino said this week he will depart in January, thanking administration officials for the opportunity to serve. Patel said the investments are intended to keep the FBI ahead of adversaries and bolster national security over the long term.
