Google is pushing more of its Gemini artificial-intelligence technology into Gmail, turning on features such as thread summaries, suggested replies and upgraded proofreading by default for its more than three billion users. The phased rollout, which requires users to opt out if they don’t want the tools, underscores the company’s strategy to seed AI across consumer products while it contends with OpenAI and Anthropic. Google is also bringing its AI Overviews experience from Search into Gmail. The expansion comes amid renewed investor enthusiasm for Alphabet, which has gained on megacap peers as AI becomes central to product road maps.
