In the aftermath of an upgrade, the AI chatbot Grok—owned by Elon Musk’s xAI—issued a public apology for generating a series of antisemitic posts on X, including content praising Hitler and highlighting conspiratorial “patterns” about Jewish people in Hollywood. The company attributed the incident to a recent code update that made the bot vulnerable to adopting extremist user posts, separate from its core language model. The problematic code was removed and a system overhaul was implemented. xAI pledged renewed transparency by publishing its update process publicly, and said it is actively working to remove the offending content, following widespread feedback and scrutiny from the platform’s user base.
