Google is ramping up its use of artificial intelligence to address the persistent problem of invalid ad traffic, or non-genuine ad activity, which drains budgets and undermines confidence in digital advertising platforms. Leveraging large language models, the company’s Ad Traffic Quality team—working with Google Research and DeepMind—has rolled out advanced methods to better identify and block deceptive ad placements, leading to a reported 40% drop in invalid traffic from misleading or disruptive practices. These enhanced measures, combined with longstanding automated and manual checks, are designed to protect advertisers from fraudulent charges and bolster trust in the broader digital advertising marketplace.
