In a sweeping reorganization aimed at turbocharging its artificial intelligence ambitions, Meta Platforms announced the split of its AI unit into four specialized teams, with top hires redeployed across the company’s latest push for “superintelligence.” Alexandr Wang, brought on as chief AI officer from Scale AI, detailed the moves in an internal memo that outlines new leadership for large language models, AI research, product integration, and infrastructure. The new structure—dubbed Meta Superintelligence Labs—comes after months of aggressive recruiting and is designed to bring stability to Meta’s high-stakes AI investments, which CEO Mark Zuckerberg says may run into the hundreds of billions of dollars. The company faces stiff competition from OpenAI and Google, and ongoing internal leadership changes highlight the pressure to stay at the forefront of generative AI development.
