Microsoft said it will invest $30 billion in the U.K. from 2025 to 2028 to expand artificial-intelligence infrastructure and operations, including $15 billion in capital spending to build what it calls the country’s largest supercomputer—with more than 23,000 Nvidia GPUs—in partnership with Nscale. The move, announced ahead of President Donald Trump’s state visit, underscores tighter U.S.-U.K. tech ties and aligns with Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s growth agenda. Microsoft plans to extend its data-center footprint, support a 6,000-employee U.K. workforce, and expand AI-skills training, while citing strong enterprise adoption from Vodafone, Barclays and the London Stock Exchange Group. The company credited government efforts to streamline planning, expand electricity capacity and clarify regulation for enabling the outlay.
