Mozilla named Anthony Enzor-DeMeo as chief executive, signaling a push to add artificial-intelligence features to its Firefox browser while preserving user choice and privacy. The company said AI tools will be opt-in across its products, a stance that contrasts with rivals racing to embed assistants by default. The move comes after layoffs and restructuring and as Mozilla seeks to lessen reliance on revenue from its Google search partnership by building a broader suite of trusted software, including email and VPN offerings. Enzor-DeMeo, formerly Firefox’s general manager with prior stints at Roofstock, Better and Wayfair, assumes the role from interim CEO Laura Chambers as competition intensifies from AI-forward browsers and agents.
