Genesis AI unveiled GENE-26.5, a software-and-hardware “robotic brain” paired with a human-scale dexterous hand that aims to execute complex, multi-step tasks with humanlike control. The system blends a robotics foundation model, a lower-cost motion-and-pressure glove for large-scale human demonstration data, and high-throughput simulation to accelerate training. Early applications are targeted at warehouses and manufacturing, with small pilot deployments planned this year, according to company co-founder Theo Gervet. Genesis says its approach addresses a long-standing data bottleneck in manipulation by closely matching human hand kinematics, improving transfer from demonstrations to robots. The company emphasizes staged safety validation and adherence to industry standards. If it performs as advertised, the technology could help robots use existing tools and infrastructure, potentially easing labor shortages and boosting productivity before expanding to service and home settings.
