Scale AI, a leading data-labeling company, has announced a significant investment from Meta, which now values Scale AI at $29 billion. Meta reportedly acquired a 49% stake in the company for $14.3 billion. As part of this deal, Scale AI’s co-founder and CEO, Alexandr Wang, will leave his role to join Meta and contribute to their AI initiatives, particularly in superintelligence. Scale AI will remain independent, with Jason Droege, the current chief strategy officer, stepping in as interim CEO. The investment will be used to pay Scale AI’s shareholders and support the firm’s future growth. This move is considered a strategic effort by Meta to strengthen its position against rivals like Google, OpenAI, and Anthropic in the AI race.
