A new Ipsos-Epoch AI survey of 2,000 U.S. adults finds artificial intelligence is already reshaping workplace routines: 20% of full-time employees say AI has replaced parts of their job, while 15% report AI has created new duties they wouldn’t otherwise perform. About half of adults used AI in the prior week, though most engaged in only brief tasks, and many workers relied on personal or free AI tools instead of employer-provided subscriptions—highlighting a growing “bring your own AI” trend. Usage of autonomous AI agents remains nascent, with 8% of AI users trying them, as search, writing/editing and brainstorming dominate use cases. The findings add to mounting evidence—from banks including Goldman Sachs—that AI is accelerating labor-market restructuring, intensifying pressure on companies and policymakers to set guardrails and strategies as adoption broadens.
