A master-planned community in Land O’ Lakes, Fla., has installed Beewise’s AI-enabled BeeHome hives, an automated system that uses cameras, sensors and robotics to monitor colony health and address threats such as varroa mites. The company says in-hive heat treatments and real-time monitoring can reduce colony collapse by roughly 70%. The deployment supports a 2.5-acre farm and comes amid nationwide concerns over pollinator losses linked to parasites, pesticides, disease and extreme weather. Beewise says its technology operates across hundreds of thousands of acres and is meant to augment, not replace, traditional beekeeping. The effort reflects broader moves to shore up pollinators essential to U.S. crops, including high-profile beekeeping initiatives at the White House.
