Anthropic said its Claude AI is beginning to speed elements of drug development through partnerships spanning discovery to clinical planning. The company worked with six organizations—including BigHat Biosciences, Generate Biomedicines, Divergence Labs, Enveda, The Column Group and Bristol Myers Squibb—to design molecules, optimize leads, automate manufacturing documentation and assess clinical trial prospects. Early results included a CAR-T design roughly 70% shorter that boosted receptor expression by about tenfold, antibody leads with more than tenfold tighter binding and markedly improved stability, and an 89% reduction in document review time while catching additional quality issues. Anthropic also acquired a one-person biotech, Mithril Medicine, whose Claude-assisted program reached promising mouse data for a rare muscular dystrophy in under 18 months, and aims to broaden access via Claude Science, research credits and a verification program as it pushes into clinical-stage work.
