A top ethical hacker warned that new AI tools could soon eclipse human competitors in vulnerability research, even as they currently boost productivity. Valentina “Chompie” Palmiotti, the biggest individual winner at the Pwn2Own competition in Berlin, said powerful models such as Anthropic’s Claude Mythos are accelerating bug discovery to the point that only elite specialists may remain competitive. Anthropic says Mythos has identified some 1,600 flaws and is limiting access to governments and security institutions. Fellow champion Orange Tsai cast AI as an “awesome assistant,” arguing human creativity will still find gaps machines miss. While criminals are experimenting with AI, most breaches still rely on basic tactics like phishing, and defenders could gain the upper hand if advanced tools are released responsibly.
