Apple’s 2025 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) disappointed many with incremental AI updates that fell short of expectations and failed to impress Wall Street. Instead, the event’s focus was a sweeping redesign of Apple’s software, marking the most significant visual update since 2013. Dubbed “Liquid Glass,” the new design language features transparent and curved elements inspired by VisionOS, made possible by advances in Apple Silicon. While some minor AI improvements and deeper integration with OpenAI’s ChatGPT were announced, the biggest headline was the overhaul to iOS, macOS, and other operating systems, which will also now be named by release year, starting with iOS 26. The changes reflect Apple’s attempt to stand out in a rapidly advancing market while managing investor and user expectations.
