Google Experiments With AI-Enhanced Search Feature on Homepage

Google is testing a new “AI Mode” search on its homepage, replacing the traditional “I’m Feeling Lucky” button with this feature beside the familiar search bar. This experimental feature aims to showcase Google’s AI capabilities as the company faces competition from generative AI tools like ChatGPT, which have amassed larger user bases. Currently available to a limited number of users through Google Labs, the AI Mode is not guaranteed to launch broadly. The move highlights Google’s efforts to defend its search dominance by integrating advanced AI features directly into its most visited real estate. Additionally, Google launched an “AI Futures Fund” for investments in AI startups, providing early access to its AI models for eligible companies.
