First Lady Melania Trump announced a nationwide “Presidential AI Challenge” inviting K–12 students to develop team projects that apply artificial intelligence to local community problems. Registration opens immediately, with submissions due by year-end, regional rounds in the spring and a White House event for national winners to follow, according to Michael Kratsios of the White House science and technology office. The initiative stems from a presidential executive order aimed at advancing AI education. Trump cited her AI-narrated memoir and advocacy for the Take It Down Act, which targets exploitative online imagery, to underscore both the promise and risks of the technology. The effort amplifies the administration’s push to embed AI literacy in schools and promote collaborative, real-world applications among students.
