Microsoft introduced a slate of “agentic AI” tools aimed at automating and personalizing retail operations from merchandising to fulfillment. The company’s Copilot Checkout lets shoppers complete purchases within Copilot without being redirected, backed by partners including Shopify, PayPal and Stripe. Microsoft also rolled out Brand Agents for Shopify merchants and customizable shopping and catalog-enrichment agent templates in Copilot Studio, designed to improve discovery, recommendations and product onboarding. A store-operations agent offers natural-language access to inventory and policy data while orchestrating workflows based on signals like sales trends and local events. Early endorsements came from Etsy, Shopify, Kappahl, Guess and Strandbags. The push underscores Microsoft’s bid to embed AI across the retail value chain, promising faster decisions, higher conversion and leaner operations ahead of NRF 2026.
