Google accelerated its push into “agentic” AI in April, rolling out a slate of enterprise and consumer updates anchored by its Cloud Next ’26 conference. The company introduced the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform for building and governing autonomous agents and unveiled eighth-generation Tensor Processing Units aimed at boosting AI performance while improving energy efficiency. It also released Gemma 4, billed as its most capable open model, and Deep Research Max for automated data synthesis, alongside developer tools including a Learn Mode in Colab and higher usage limits in AI Studio. Consumer features ranged from free video generation in Google Vids to TOEIC test prep via Gemini and a new pronunciation tool as Google Translate marked 20 years. Google said nearly 75% of Cloud customers use its AI services, with 330 organizations each processing over a trillion tokens in the past year, and announced a $10 million initiative with the Johnson & Johnson Foundation to train rural U.S. healthcare workers; Fitbit also added more personalized coaching powered by Gemini.
