Google unveiled a broad slate of artificial-intelligence updates in July aimed at accelerating developer adoption, deepening consumer features and supporting public-sector resilience. The company introduced three new Gemini models—3.6 Flash, 3.5 Flash-Lite and 3.5 Flash Cyber—targeted at building faster, more cost-efficient production agents, and debuted Gemini Robotics ER 2, an “embodied reasoning” system designed to help robots interpret environments and complete multi-step tasks.
The month’s updates tightened ties with key hardware partners and Android users. New Galaxy Z Fold8 and Flip8 devices will showcase the first capabilities of Gemini Intelligence, while Android 17 adds a native, app-free migration flow to simplify switching from iPhone. Google also rebranded NotebookLM as Gemini Notebook and integrated it more deeply into Search and the Gemini app.
Enterprise and civic applications featured prominently. AlphaEvolve, an AI code-optimization agent, became generally available on Google Cloud’s Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform. NOAA will run numerical weather prediction on Google Cloud’s H4D VMs to speed forecasts, and three FireSat satellites launched under the Earth Fire Alliance to bolster early wildfire detection. Google highlighted work on multi-hazard early warning systems with the UN and outlined a joint DeepMind–Isomorphic Labs bioresilience program.
Consumer creativity and Search got upgrades as well. Google Vids added Gemini Omni and personal avatars for easier video production, and Flow Music introduced the Lyria 3.5 model for more natural songs and vocals. Search’s Personal Intelligence deepened app connections, and Gemini Spark expanded globally with new tools for handling complex web errands. DeepMind’s Demis Hassabis framed the efforts as part of a pivotal moment for AI’s practical and responsible deployment.
