NAVER, NVIDIA and Brookfield plan to expand Korea’s “sovereign” AI infrastructure, tripling a newly announced NVIDIA DSX-based buildout at NAVER’s GAK Sejong data center from 55 megawatts to 200 megawatts by 2028, with a long-term goal of reaching 1 gigawatt. NVIDIA aims to invest $1 billion in NAVER, while Brookfield signed a nonbinding term sheet to provide up to $9 billion, with NAVER funding the remainder; NVIDIA’s investment is contingent on customary approvals and NAVER securing at least $9 billion in committed financing. The facility is slated to host NVIDIA’s latest platforms, including Blackwell and Vera Rubin, and offer multi-tenant, full-stack AI compute to startups, enterprises and public-sector users in Korea and the U.S. The move underscores intensifying national efforts to secure domestic AI capacity as demand for model training and deployment accelerates. The partners also outlined collaborations on open models and agent tooling, as NAVER advances HyperCLOVA X using NVIDIA’s Nemotron 3 Ultra and prepares an AI agent platform launch later this year.
