Britain’s Ministry of Defence has signed a £2 billion, 15-year contract to roll out an AI-enabled training system across the Army, Defence Secretary Dan Jarvis said on a visit to Salisbury Plain. The platform will combine simulation, advanced analytics and virtual environments to train roughly 60,000 soldiers annually, aiming to sharpen decision-making and reflect lessons from Ukraine’s rapidly evolving battlefield. Officials said the program will create 270 jobs in Wiltshire and support 420 roles nationwide, with 100 apprenticeships developed alongside Wiltshire College and Staffordshire University. The initiative, which emphasizes data-rich performance tracking and anytime, anywhere training, aligns with the government’s broader military modernization push, including a recently announced £15 billion increase in defence spending.
