Elon Musk’s X said it will block its Grok AI from generating sexualized edits of real people in jurisdictions where such content is illegal, responding to mounting political and regulatory pressure. X said only paying users can access Grok’s image-editing tools and that region-based geoblocking will apply, but questions remain over enforcement, detection of real-person images, and whether VPNs can circumvent the limits. The episode underscores escalating scrutiny of AI image tools and raises the stakes for X as governments weigh stronger penalties, including potential site blocking for noncompliance.
